Oral history interview with Mary Joyce Burnett, 2002 [audiorecording].

Dr. Burnett talked about growing up in rural Kansas in a family of homesteaders, life on the farm, and the schools she attended when she was a child. She shares her experiences in education. Obtaining her degrees, teaching her students, and her career as a teacher form the basis of the interview. Information on working mothers in the 1970s, Arlington, Texas, and the Altrusa Club, a club for professional women, are provided during the interview.

She graduated from Colorado Women's College in Denver, Colorado, and later from the University of Oklahoma with a BBA, Columbia University with an MBA, and North Texas University with a Ph. D. Her husband is a dentist in Arlington, Texas, and they have two children. Dr. Mary Joyce Burnett is a professor at Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, Texas, and president of the Altrusa Club in Arlington, Texas. ...
